EAMV Drag project
Nine months ago after successful season our friend and client Jezij Chmelevskij came back with his 500hp VW Corrado to our workshop and was looking for further modifications. During conversation on further mods we came to something different that nobody would expected… engineer and built our own vehicle.
We had some limitations as far as Jezij with his old vehicle has brought plastic body of his own design which he wanted to put on his old Corrado, he wanted to use engine and transmission from his old car two. We measured the plastic body and started designing tubular chassis and suspension on computer. When drawings were ready, T45 tubes were received and bends were made, TIG was switched on and the work has started.
Simultaneously engine department was busy with calculations on engine, manifolds, etc. The order for engine parts was made, all other things had to be designed on PC and made by ourselves. We have designed and made intake and exhaust manifolds - this made preliminary assembly of the vehicle possible, electronics department was able to start on design of electrical system and PDM, assembly department on building brake and fuel system and positioning of all equipment of the vehicle. When everything was in its place and body found it fixing points on frame, we disassembled everything and sent frame and body for painting.
In once we received back chassis, body and engine parts – everyone in our team was busy. It is nice that years ago we have divided areas that team members deal with – specialization makes everything possible in much shorter time. Final assembly of the vehicle with the time for engine assembly took about two weeks. Now it was engine tuners time to start and tune the car with gold boxes - MoTec EMS.
After fine tuning and testing of the vehicle here is the result:
WEIGHT w/o driver: 718kg
POWER on flywheel: 856HP
TORQUE: 875Nm
ET on ¼ mile: 9,15s
